C Balagopal is an entrepreneur, author, and former civil servant. He retired recently as the Chairman of the Board of Federal Bank Ltd. He ia a member of the Governing Body of the Centre for Management Development Trivandrum, the Advisory Board of IIT Palakkad, and the TIMed Incubator, SCTIMST. He served as an IAS officer in Manipur and Kerala from 1977-1983. He then resigned to becone an entrepreneur. In 1985, Balagopal set up a startup using knowhow developed at a National Lab, and grew it over the next 20 years into the world`s largest producer of blood bag systems. He has also authored several books, including On a Clear Day You Can See India, The View from Kollam, Maveli & Markets, and his latest work, Below the Radar. Balagopal and his wife Vinita run the Anaha Trust that supports social enterprises in Kerala and Manipur.
