Jiban Narah is an Assamese poet, novelist and teacher. He has authored six books of poetry in Assamese. As much as being popular and influential in the literary field, he is also a social activist who has voiced his concerns over the safeguarding of mother tongue as the medium of instruction. He is one among the prominent poets belonging to the succeeding generation of poets after Nilmani Phookan, Harekrishna Deka and Hiren Bhattacharya. Tari-RI and Halodhiya Upama are two among his many poetry collections. Recent ones being The Orange Hill and The Buddha and other poems.
