Alexandra Büchler is Director of Literature Across Frontiers, the European Platform for Literary Exchange, based in Wales, UK. She has worked as cultural manager for three decades, curating literary events and developing initiatives aimed at fostering literary exchange and translation within Europe, and between Europe and other global regions, notably India, where LAF has been working for a decade. She has served on boards of international cultural organisations such as Culture Action Europe, and currently serves on the Board of the European Multilingualism Platform and on the Advisory Board of Asia Pacific Writers and Translators network. A translator and editor with over twenty publications to date, she has translated authors such as J. M. Coetzee and Jean Rhys into her native, Czech and has edited a number of fiction and poetry anthologies. Her most recent translation into English is The House of a Thousand Floors, a 1920s Czech modern classic novel by Jan Weiss, published in 2016 by Central European University Press.
