Prafull Shiledar is a renowned Marathi poet and translator. He has three poetry collections in Marathi and one in Hindi. His poems are translated in many Indian and foreign languages. He has read poetry in many national and international poetry festivals and literary events. Along with poetry writing, he has written prose including short stories, book reviews, film appreciations, interviews, travelogue and criticism.
He is a translator and mainly translates poetry into Marathi as well as Hindi. Besides three published books of translation, he has translated Indian, American, European and Polish poetry into Marathi.
He is the recipient of Translation Award for 2009 by Gandhi Memorial Trust, Nagpur, ‘Vishakha’ Award for the book of Poems - ‘Swagat’ (A Monologue)(1993), ‘Keshawsut’ Award for best poetry book of the year (2006) by The State of Maharashtra for the poetry book ‘Jagnyachya Pasaryat’ and ‘Sharadchandra Muktibodh’ and Balshastri Jambhekar Translation Award(2014) for ‘Sanshayatma’.
