E.V.Ramakrishnan is a bilingual writer who has published poetry and criticism in Malayalam and English.
Among his books in Malayalam are: Aksharavum Aadhunikatayum (1994), Desheeyatakalum Sahityavum (2000), Anubhavangale Aarkkanu Peti? (2008) and Malayala Novelinte Desakalangal (2017). He has received Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award (1995) and Vaikhari Award of T.Bhaskaran Memorial Trust (2018). Among his critical books in English are: Making It New: Modernism in Malayalam, Marathi and Hindi Poetry (1995); Tree of Tongues: An Anthology of Indian Poetry (Edited, 2001); Locating Indian Literature: Texts, Traditions, Translations (2011); Indigenous Imaginaries: Literature, Modernity, Region (2017); Bakhtinian Explorations of Indian Culture: Pluralism, Dogma and Dialogue through History (Co-edited, 2018). He has four poetry volumes in English, the most recent being, Terms of Seeing: New and Selected Poems (2006) and Tips for Living in an Expanding Universe (2018).
Having retired from Central University of Gujarat in 2015 as Professor and Dean, he has been serving there as Professor Emeritus. Widely travelled in India and abroad, he has presented over 150 research papers at various Universities in various national and international seminars and conferences. He is presently the President of Comparative Literature Association of India (CLAI) and a member of the Executive Council of the International Comparative Literature Association of India (ICLA).
