V R Sudheesh published his first story in 1975. Krooraphalithakkaranu Daivam, swathanthryathinu vayassakunnu, Kadhaparayum Kadhaamaman, Daivathinu oru Poovu, Vimatha Laingikam and Vaakukal Sangeethamakunna Kalam are some of his notable works.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award twice (2014 and 2017) He has also won CV Sreeraman Award, TV Kochubawa Award, Thoppil Ravi Award, Bheema Bala Sahitya Award and State Television Award (2005). He wrote the screenplay for the serial 'Angapurappadu' and the film 'Thottam'.
He retired as principal from Sree Narayana Guru College, Chelannoor in 2018.
