Kalamandalam Sugandhi is amongst the foremost exponents of the Mohiniyattom and can rightfully claim to have played a significant role in its revival. She pursued her higher studies under Guru Kalamandalam Kalyanikuttiyamma, Kalamandalam Satyabhama and Vedantam Prahlada Sharma. Her association with Padmabhushan Dr. Padma Subramanium served as a significant turning point in her career, as it ignited her inquisitiveness and enabled her to trace the origins of her dance form in Natyasastra. She has organised various workshops and seminars, served as a member of governing bodies of various institutions which promote art and has authored texts in Malayalam and Konkani to promote Indian Classical Dance.
Radha Madhavam - based on Astapadis of Geeta Govindam By Jayadeva, Vasantholsavam - representing the ethnic taste and culture of Kerala and Bharatiyam- Simultaneous presentation of all regional classical dance forms of India emphasising and reflecting upon the typical similarities in the diverse dance traditions of India are some of her choreographed dances that received critical acclaim.
She is currently the Dean for Mohiniyattam at Kerala Kalamandalam
