Sharmila Seyyid is an exceptional young gutsy writer and a fearless critic of injustices in society. She is a human rights activist and social worker in Srilanka. Sharmila is the author of four books: Siragu Mulaitha Pen (2012), Ummath 2013), Ovva (2014), Panikkar Pethi (2019). The novel Ummath has won the best novel of the year 2014 in India. It has been translated into English as Ummath: The Novel of Community and Conflict and published by HarperCollins, New Delhi. She was honoured by Art Omi with two months of writer residency fellowship in New York, USA. she has received many awards for her contributions to literature and activism.
