The fourth edition of the annual Kerala Literature Festival came to close on Sunday night at the Kozhikode beach. Renowned Malayalam writer, K.R. Meera inaugurated the ceremony. The festival presented an array of artists, actors, writers, thinkers, and activists, who attended meaningful discussions on literature, art, cinema, culture, dance, music, environment, science, and technology. The star attractions of the four day event included, Former Cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma, Writer Ramachandra Guha, Politician Shashi Tharoor, Writer Arundhati Roy, among others. Over 500 speakers from 15 countries celebrated literature over four days. It provided an open platform for dialogue and discussions. Mr Abdul Hakkim gave the welcome speech and A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA gave the presidential address. The review of the KLF 2019 was given by the festival director, K. Satchidanandan. M.K. Raghavan, MP was chief guest of the occasion. Mr. Ravi DeeCee, Chief Facilitator, KLF, Bose Krishnamachary, Sriram Sambadiva Rao, Sanjay Kumar Gurudin, IPS and V.K. Baburaj were also present. Wales was the guest nation for the year, offering audiences a taste of the contemporary legacy of one of Europe’s oldest cultural traditions. The Guest Nation Wales programme also included a day dedicated to screenings of Welsh films related to literature. The next edition will be from the 9th to the12th of January, 2020.
