Curtain Raiser: Kerala Literature Festival 2019
The fourth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival kick started with the Qawwali of Ashraf Hydroz at Kozhikode Beach on Wednesday, 9/1/2019. With the receding winter sun spreading warmth and the group singing some soulful renditions, the gathering was mesmerised in the mysticism of the evening.
Presented by DC Kizhakemuri Foundation and other sponsors, it is a 4-day celebration of literature from across the state of Kerala, with more than 500 writers from more than 30 countries involved in events. For the past 3 years the KLF has enriched the culture of Kerala and established itself as a major literature festival, characterised not only by the speakers and guests but also by the enthusiasm and engagement of our audience, and the warmth and welcome provided by Kozhikode as our setting.
Literature, Arts and Culture offer us a way to understand our neighbours better and to shine a light on how the world fits together. The KLF 2019 will also see exhibitions on wooden architecture, photography, poetry sessions and film screenings. The event will be officially inaugurated by renowned writer, M.T. Vasudevan Nair at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, 10/1/2019.
In its 4th year the KLF returns with an expanded programme under the DC Kizhakemuri Foundation. With such a line-up of extremely interesting writers and speakers, this edition looks all set to be a grand success.
