The Kerala Literature Festival hosted a session on the 'Ups and Downs of the Writing Life' by the renowned Swedish writer Zac O'Yeah and his life partner Anjum Hasan, moderated by Abdul Rasheed in the stage, Vaakku. The three close friends talked about how they happened to meet back in 2012, and how effectively their friendship had grown to adventures and explorations of literature. Zac, the then youngest member of Swedish writers association married Anjum Hasan who hails from Shillong. Zac who had always wondered about the diversity of literature and artforms in India said, 'I was keen on finding disparate literary forms in Indian literature and cinema.'
Anjum, being another eminent writer talked about the importance of reading, ' Read more because nothing can substitute reading.' She further mentioned about the literary figures of the 20th century like Virginia Woolf. Anjum Hasan talked about her book, Lunatic in My Head, which is an exploration of hopelessness of being young and pathless focusses on the most ordinary of desires -- to escape. The couple shared their experiences of travelling and working together in India.
