The first session of KLF 2019 started with an interesting discussion on the topic "Affection in Fiction and Conflict in Society". The session started at 10:00 a.m.with Mahatma Gandhi University honouring the Chief Guest, Dr. T. Padmanabhan. Dr. Padmanabhan is considered as one of the greatest sort-fiction writers in Malayalam. Initial sessions of theprevious three editions of KLF were inauguarated by Dr. Padmanabhan. The session proceeded further with a statement on the "Fruitful Year for Fiction" and Dr. Padmanabhan responded by sticking to his own belief that OLD IS GOLD and that ancient literature is the best outcome of the era.
Dr. Padmanabhan opined that writing in English could get him global attention but he loves the language he speaks. Being a writer has made him fall in love with poetry. Dr. Padmanabhan also stated that setting of a plot is as important as the storyline. Most of his stories are told in a third-person perspective. Dr. Padmanabhan also discussed about the influence of casteism in a writer's life. His belief in self-confidence and modesty was reflected in his words.
