Acclaimed Historian Romila Thapar and Noted writer Githa Hariharan to take part in an exciting session at the third edition of Kerala Literature Festival 2018 at Kozhikode Beach.
The session titled ‘LEARNING FROM THE PAST , LEARNING FOR THE FUTURE’ will be held on 8th February 2018 between 7pm and 8pm.
Romila Thapar is one of the most acclaimed historian. Her area of specialization is ancient India. She has authored many books including the popular volume “A History of India”. She is currently Professor Emerita at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Thapar earned he doctorate under A. L. Basham at the School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London in 1958. She has also been twice offered the Padma Bhushan award which she declined both times.
Githa Hariharan is one among the famous writers in Indian English Literature. Her first novel The Thousand Faces of Night won her the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for the best book in 1993. Her other works include The Ghosts of Vasu Master, When Dreams Travel, In Times of Siege, Almost Home: Cities and Other Places etc. She has edited works such as A Southern Harvest, Sorry, Best Friend!, From India to Palastine: Essays in Solidarity. Her works have been translated into major foreign languages like French, Italian, Spanish, German, Greek etc
