Ecologist and conservationist Madhav Gadgil was in conversation with Nithin Sethi on the third day of the Kerala Literature Festival. "Most of the undesirable consequences which are bound to happen are beginning to happen," quoted Gadgil. Speaking about Kerala’s fragile ecology in the context of the deluge that recurred, he mentioned that the aerosol particles and the inefficiency in water resource management has increased the risk of floods in the state.
He urged the Indian government to move away from developmental practices that aggravated pollution. Nithin Sethi commented that the Western Ghats should be governed from a fresh perspective and a new system must be in place to work according to the recommendations of the Western Ghats Ecology Expert Panel.
