Translation is not a secondary process; and translated literatures are not subordinated by source literature instead. It is artistic process which involves much effort; opined EV Ramakrisnan, famous poet. He was speaking in a session titled “Challenges Of Translation” in Kerala Literature Festival on Thursday. The session was moderated by C.Kabani.
K.S Venkitachalam, eminent Tamil – Malayalam translator in the discussion stated that “a good translation work is born when it is done out of love towards language, not by any obligations.” He also said that personal relationship with the source another way help a translator to find more appropriate meanings. He also pointed out, guessing the meanings without proper knowledge will results in losing the essence of source literature.
