Renowned Indian author and cartoonist O.V.Vijayan powerfully questioned and portrayed the reality of the country. With dark humour and bitter irony and other assembled bits of graphic and verbal truth he light the fire to the thoughts of his fellowmen on the long hard road back to the ideals of Gandhi. Vijayan used dry brushing technique to blacken, contrast and give ‘more weight’ to his comments. He also ensured that after every single cartoon a major issue was poked and it left the viewers in serious thought. If closely observed his cry for his beloved mother India could be spotted.
As a tribute to the master an exclusive and rare cartoon exhibition will be held at the second edition of Kerala literature festival. It is also a turning back at the political scenario we came across since many decades through the timeless cartoons.
